Dimensions: 440mm x 300mm "Dioptric Red" Lens: The lens is made of heavy, molded, ruby-red Fresnel glass with concentric rings that concentrate the flame's light, making it brighter and visible from further distances Material: usually constructed from solid brass (sometimes with copper), often with protective cage bars covering the glass Purpose: The red color signifies the port side of a vessel, used for navigation to prevent collisions at night Markings: "Dioptric" indicates it uses Fresnel optics, often produced by prominent 19th-Century lighting manufacturers (e.g., Chance Brothers, or American makers around the 1920s–1930s).
