Oriental Decorative Art Part I Saturday, 25 July 2026 / 11:00 am start

House of Huia is pleased to present the Oriental Decorative Art auction, an incredible sale presented across two parts, bringing together a remarkable range of pieces seldom seen on the market. Collectors and enthusiasts alike will find plenty to admire across both sessions, with each lot reflecting decades, and in some cases centuries, of craftsmanship and cultural heritage. Highlights include a collection of silver, among them Indian silver from the renowned Bhuj region, its patterned metalwork distinct in quality and style, showcasing the intricate hand-worked detail this region is celebrated for. The Chinese and Japanese porcelain spans incredible colours, designs, and patterns, bringing new depth to these pieces and offering a wonderful glimpse into the artistic traditions behind them. A number of exquisitely carved netsuke turn detail into an art form at remarkably small scale, each figure a testament to the patience and precision of its maker. The cloisonné entries in the sale are second to none, with standout pieces including a teapot with rich, lustrous greens and a fiery dragon working its way around the piece, the workmanship as vivid today as the day it was made. The sale also includes a number of antique Japanese woodblock prints, their colour and life still vibrant even after 150 years, a striking reminder of the skill and artistry behind traditional printmaking. Part Two of the sale offers a huge variety of artefacts and items, giving buyers the chance to get a piece of the action at every price point, making this a sale with something to offer collectors and newcomers alike. Part One is live at 11am Saturday morning; Part Two is online only, starting at 6pm.
