Militaria Auction Part I Saturday, 4 July 2026 / 11:00 am start
Few collecting fields carry the weight of history quite like militaria, and House of Huia has become the place where you can both buy and sell with ease. This sale is no different, and across two parts delivers over 700 lots of history and interest. Part One begins with an outstanding selection of Japanese edged weapons, headlined by a scarce WWII-era samurai sword. Alongside sit antique pistols of real character, a broad spread of military accoutrements and field gear, and a fascinating array of gold fobs and mementos made here in New Zealand as keepsakes and presentation pieces for returning soldiers, intimate, personal objects that speak volumes about the men who received them. Medals form the heart of the sale, with an exceptional range spanning conflicts and campaigns, but pride of place belongs to the Military Cross group awarded to 2nd Lieutenant E. G. D. Stewart of the NZEF, a compelling and well-documented group that will command serious attention from collectors of New Zealand military history. Part One gets underway at 11am, with Part Two, bringing over 400 additional lots, running as an online-only auction from 6pm the same evening. Both parts are available to bid via our website. There is no International shipping of any weapons or weapons parts from this auction through House of Huia. This is to comply with international postage law. You are welcome to organise your own and we will help organise this in any way we can.
