New Zealand Banknote Auction Saturday, 6 June 2026 / 11:00 am start
House of Huia is thrilled to present the New Zealand Banknote Auction, with the highlight lot being New Zealand's scarcest banknote, the coveted Lefeaux 50 Pound. The sale features a huge selection of pre-decimal banknotes with every signature represented. A particular highlight is the three Australian trading banknotes in Lot 78, showcasing some very scarce examples of New Zealand paper currency from before a standardised monetary policy was introduced. The sale has an excellent selection across all New Zealand signatories, both pre-decimal and post-decimal. The true UNC 100 Dollar Fleming banknote is a rarity and a crowning achievement for many decimal collectors. The large selection of other decimal notes, as well as the exceptionally scarce star notes, will leave collectors on edge for the entire auction! The auction will be held live and online on Saturday at our rooms at 27 Lunns Road, Christchurch. All grading in the sale is subjective and bidders should make their own assessments based on the photographs provided or call for a condition report.
