'Wangai Moana' to endpaper, likely referring to Whangaimoana Station in the Wairarapa. "The homestead belonged to Thomas Purvis Russell and his brothers (Henry, Robert and John) and sister (Anne), who squatted in the Wairarapa from 1847. The property and a later homestead are still called Whangaimoana.” Session 1, 1853 to Session XI, 1864. To which are Prefixed Ordinances of New Munster, 1849.
